As a company that promotes good pet ownership at every opportunity we decided we wanted to offer a micro-chipping service. Abbey attended a course which offered one-to-one guidance from a qualified veterinary nurse and an experienced tutor. Having successfully completed the course Abbey is now a qualified micro-chip implanter and can micro-chip dogs and cats (ideal for if your cat tends to roam a lot).
The actual micro-chip is only slightly bigger than a grain of rice and it is inserted into the skin between the shoulder blades. Specialised equipment ensures the least amount of distress to the animal, most won't even react to the procedure.
The micro-chip has a unique number which relates to your contact details which are stored on a secure database. Hand held scanners which dog wardens, vet clinics and police have can pick these details up. This means that if your pet gets lost they can be returned as quickly as possible. This means that you avoid having to pay for kennelling costs whilst you wait to be re-united. If lost pets don't find their way back home within 7 days they then become the property of the rescue centre which means they can be re-homed or even put to sleep.
An added bonus is that we provide a collar tag stating that the pet is chipped and states Pet Log's phone number. This not only means that people know where to ring to report your lost pet, but it also deters people from stealing your pet as thieves know that vets regularly scan animals to see if they are micro-chipped. Plus the back is blank so you can put your details on the other side.
So for £10 (less than most takeaways for two) you can provide ID for your pet that will last a life time!
